Did she need help picking it up from the store? Well she could probably get someone to help her with it. Though it would be nice to have him along. Though she was going to have to buy some paint... and did she wanted to paint it before or after it was put together? It would probably be easier to paint once it was together. "Um, yeah help getting it from the store would be really good." she replied, her voice was kinda distant sounding. She was obviously thinking. She moved the coffee cup back up to her lips only to find there was no more and frowning slightly she set it down on the floor next to where she'd planted herself and looked back down to the book, letting her hair fall in a veil like manner to hide her face, and hopefully any thoughts.
And as she heard him ask about dinner her eyes widened a little bit. It was just dinner, though the manner in which he'd asked. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she continued looking to that same book, having not read anything but the first word of the summary. "Um." she started then still not looking up. Everything about her right now wasn't normal for Autumn. Normally it would simply be a quick 'I'd love to!' but no, she was 'um'ing now. "What day?" she asked him then. "I'm pretty busy the rest of this week.." She paused as she finally looked up to him. "So if not this week then, sure.. next week." she concluded. She felt awful, she really-really did. But she was all too giddy about the aspect of dinner with Parker. Even though he said it was just dinner. And they'd always been just friends, she was pretty sure he'd always liked her as just a friend. She was also pretty sure he wasn't interested in being anything then just friends. Thus, her newly found feelings were..well kind of freaking her out.

Parker tossed his cup toward the trash can by the door, but was not at all surprised when it missed. He had been havint the lousiest luck today and he had never been all that great at basketball anyway, even if it did only involve a paper cup and a wastebasket. With a defeated sigh, Parker took the few steps over to the basket and tossed the cup in. This was simply not his day, and from what Autumn had just said, it was certainly not going to get any better.
"Oh... well, um, just let me know what's good for you, I guess," Parker said softly, moving back toward the packing cartons to begin transferring clothing once more. He had made a rather large dent in the mess so far, but his drive to continue was beginning to die out quickly because unfortunately, despite the growing cleanliness of the room, his life was becoming more and more muddled by the minute. He should have known it was a bad idea to ask Autumn to dinner. Clearly, she had seen through his pitifully weak facade of merely wanting friendship and had gotten far more freaked out than Parker had thought she would. Granted, he'd always been sure that she would be a little troubled by the idea that someone quite so strange as he was could like her as much as he did, but he hadn't expected her to ever find out. He had managed to keep his secret for long enough that he'd been quite sure it would never come to light.
"Well, umm... call me when you want to go pick up the bookshelf. We can always take my car, if you want. It should fit in the back or at least, I think it will anyway," Parker added. Finally giving up on the cardboard menaces, he shuffled over toward his bed, his feet feeling far heavier than usual. Sitting himself down, he was quite glad that he'd made it already. He doubted that he would finish moving in that night and was beginning to think that maybe some rest would do him and his worried mind a bit of good.

As she heard his response she bit down on the inside of her bottom lip as she peeked up at him and then looked back down to the book at hand, actually, finally reading the summary now before she set it down in the stack of two other books. She really shouldn't have been so weird. She really shouldn't have answered him that way. She wasn't even really all that busy this week, but she was going to be next week. That's why she'd said the next week, thinking that maybe that way it wouldn't happen. Silently she took a deep breath. Maybe she should quickly try to make up for it. Suggest a night this week... But before she could speak she heard Parker talking again and looked back up to the male.
"Yeah, okay..." she replied then. With the way he'd worded things and went over to his bed and sat down she kind of got the feeling it was time to go. She moved as she got up to throw away her coffee cup. Seriously all she wanted now was a joint, she wanted to get high.. because she knew it would totally take her mind off all this and make her relax. Though that was how Autumn handled those kind of situations. Rather then thinking it through and being normal about it, she got high. She knew it was wrong.. but she did it anyway. That and several other reasons were why she was sure Parker wouldn't like her as anything more then a friend. She was pretty messed up and she knew it.
Once the coffee cup was in the garbage can she moved back over to the pile of the three books as she picked them up. "Um, well I'm gonna borrow these.. " she stated then, he'd already said it was alright, that could borrow some books so she stated it rather then asked as she normally would have. "And I'll text you or call you tomorrow.." She concluded before she turned to go.

Parker watched her walk toward the door, a bit more despairingly than he had thought. It was growing increasingly more difficult to separate from Autumn whenever he saw her, and quite frankly, it was making him nervous. He had liked her for so long that he had been sure he'd settled into this little crush routine, but his mind was now sending him much more frequent signals that perhaps that was not the case.
"Autumn, wait..." Parker said as he felt himself practically jump off his bed. If ever he had felt like he was having an out-of-body experience, now was the time. Before he could stop himself, he had closed the short distance between his bed and the door and wrapped her in his arms. Quite glad that she could not see his face, Parker found himself biting his lip a bit harder than he had initially thought. Certain that he would start drawing blood soon, he took a deep breath and said, "It's just... it's really good to see you again."
Parker knew that he was blushing, but couldn't help it. As he backed away, he was definitely glad he had managed to get control of himself again. Another few seconds and that hug would have been quickly followed by a kiss that could have ruined everything that had been built up over their time of knowing each other. Parker could not imagine what it would be like to go back to having no one to really talk to. Though he had a few acquaintances, Autumn was one of the only people he knew that he could truly consider a friend.
"So, tomorrow then," Parker said, backing away toward the safety of his bed. He wished that he could bring himself to say all the things that hung in the air around them, but knew that he would never have the nerve. He had always been the shy one and until something happened to change that or Autumn came to the unbelievable discovery that she couldn't live without him, he was certain that it would be quite some time before the pair ever had a chance. Perhaps, Parker often worried, it would be too late by then.

As she heard the wait she stopped as she turned and looked at him just as he wrapped his arms around her. The action caused butterflies to form in her stomach and at first she didn't make any move to hug the male back. Normally she was the one who hugged him so it really caught her off guard. Hearing what he said though she seemed to relax a bit, as she was brought back down to reality. Just friends right, but she still couldn't help but hope. "Yeah Parker.. you too." she replied and she would have returned his hug with one of her own if she wasn't holding those books with both hands.
And for a second she wondered what it would be like to kiss Parker as he hugged her, but then he broke it off and was moving away from her and back toward the bed, and she really knew she needed to get out of there quickly. "Right, tomorrow." she replied with a soft smile before she turned back to the door and rather quickly opening it left the room, shutting it silently behind her. As she started back down the hallway a small sigh escaped her lips.
Since when had things gotten so complicated. With Parker especially, he'd always been that constant for her. That one friend, who was just a friend. Because well, Autumn didn't tend to have a lot of guy friends who were just friends. But this was different then it had been before. She'd never gotten butterflies in her stomach because of a hug, or thought about kissing them. She'd normally just kiss the person. She normally didn't get butterflies in her stomach. She normally didn't suddenly realize she had been harboring romantic feelings for one of her really close friends.
Finally getting outside she moved toward her car. Maybe she'd go ahead and get the paint now, get ready for tomorrow. In all reality she needed it to come quickly; because she was hooked on Parker Brighton.
[[should we go ahead and make the next thread? Would you like me to make it?]]
